Give captions room to breathe.
Make words arrive when the image is ready for them.
Read the picture first
Open Beneath the surface. The camera’s dive is the main event. A caption should name the discovery after the viewer has begun to see it.
Edit a single moment
Select LOOK BELOW on the Captions track. Change the wording, start and duration in the inspector. Keep it short enough to read without pausing the film.
Use a deliberate hierarchy
Use an opening title to set up the question and smaller captions to explain individual moments. Keep essential text inside the frame with space above the bottom edge, especially in portrait.
Bring timed text with you
Download this project’s SRT from its project page. In the editor, import it through Captions. Each cue becomes an editable timed text clip. Remove any duplicate captions before exporting. SRT and VTT import uses the timings you provide.
Your assignment.
